ISSUE SOLUTION

Glass will not unfold |
When the unit is in the HOME position, your glass will always be in the folded position. Once you press a preset height, the unit will come up and unfold. If your glass does not unfold, your glass clamp is likely locked in the flat position. Turn the adjusting tube under the glass (or the round metal adjusting dials depending on your model) to the right until the glass unfolds to your angle of choice.
If your glass clamp is unlocked, check to see if you are using the correct size glass for your units. Some older units, like the ones with the round metal dials mentioned above, will only accept glass that is 10x12 in size. Any glass larger than this will not be able to be lifted by the spring in these units.
Note: Some units use an older, smaller gas strut to lift the glass and could be affected by the cold. If your units were packed in the folded position and in a relatively cold environment, the glass may struggle when opening for the first time. After exercising the strut a couple of times, the glass should flip open without issue. If they do not, you may need to send the head to Telescript for maintenance/adjusting. Call for information.

Glass will not fold flat |
If when returning to the HOME position your glass will not fold flat:
1) Be sure you have the correct size glass in your glass clamp. If your units are older units you must use the same size glass that was supplied with your unit. Some older units set to handle large 12x14 glass are not able to fold smaller size glass (10x12). Using glass that is something other than 10x12 or 12x14 may cause the bases to not function as intended.
2) Your clutch bolt may be loose. Take a 5mm Allen wrench and tighten the silver clutch bolt on the base's right side. After tightening test to see if the unit will fold your glass.
It also may be necessary to reset the unit to dial in your HOME position.
To do this:
1) Unplug the power cord
2) Press and hold the POLE IDENT and SEND TO HOME buttons simultaneously while plugging the unit back in
3) Continue to hold the buttons until the pole either asks for a GLASS SIZE or you see a screen that says TGT 86 RSLT ** (number). Select your glass size if presented with this question on the display. If asked for a glass size, select either POLE IDENT or SEND TO HOME to select your glass size. Small is 10x12 sized glass and large is 12x14 sized glass. 4) If your RSLT number is not between 84-88, use a small flathead screwdriver to turn the small flathead screw that you see inside the hole on the right side of the unit. Turn it left or right to set it to 86.
5) Unplug and replug your unit and test
Note: Some older units that originally were rated for 10x12 glass only and were retrofitted to handle 12x14 glass may not fold completely flat when in the HOME position. This is normal and is a result of the retrofit.

Only one unit will extend |
There are two main reasons that only one of the two units will not extend.
First, check to make sure that each pole has a unique pole number. If both poles are set to the same number, simply press the POLE IDENT button to change the number on one of the poles.
Second, a faulty jumper cable (or main data cable) could be the issue. Swap out the cable and try again.

The unit is reporting POLE STUCK |
First, check the tiers on the pole for obstructions that may keep the tiers from collapsing in/out of each other.
Be sure there is no adhesive residue on the tiers as this may keep the tiers from freely sliding in and out of each other.
If your pole is reporting stuck when going to the home position, be sure you have glass in the clamp. If you have no glass in the clamp the motor will not be able to pull the head into the flat position.
If the unit was forced downward by someone this may have put a kink in the internal “pusher” that guides the tiers up and down. If this is the case, the unit must be sent to Telescript for repair.
Be sure to perform a factory reset to make sure the HOME position is set correctly.

Unit is stuck in an extended position and will no longer move |
First, check to be sure your controller is communicating with the base.
Does the display on the base say No Comms? If so, your controller is not connected to the unit.
Power cycle the controller to see if it will reconnect with the base. If not, check for cable issues to see if there is a bad cable. Also, try power cycling the base itself.
If after checking the BNC cable you still cannot get a connection, take the XLR data cable that was included with your kit and take it to the unit along with your controller. Plug one end into the controller and the other into the XLR DATA port which is either on the front face of your unit or under the display on the side of your unit if you have an older base (Do not confuse the DATA port for the XLR power port which is marked as 12v Out). Test to see if the controller will connect and retract the pole. If using the XLR still will not establish a connection, move to the reset instructions below.
If the controller will connect with the XLR, there is either a BNC cable issue or a BNC data port issue. Change the cable making sure that the cable is running directly to the base, or properly looped from the other base. BNC data cables need to be run directly to the units and NOT run through any distribution systems.
If your controller is connected to the base, check the tiers on the pole for obstructions that may keep the tiers from collapsing in/out of each other.
Be sure there is no adhesive residue on the tiers as this may keep the tiers from freely sliding in and out of each other.
If the tiers are free of any visible issues, try resetting the unit in the following manner:
1) Unplug the power cord
2) Press and hold the POLE IDENT and SEND TO HOME buttons simultaneously while plugging the unit back in
3) Continue to hold the buttons until the pole either asks for you to select a GLASS SIZE or you see a screen that says TGT 86 RSLT ** (number). If asked for a glass size, select either POLE IDENT or SEND TO HOME to select your glass size. Small is 10x12 sized glass and large is 12x14 sized glass.
Note: If the unit does retract but only partially, go through the reset process once more to try and get it to HOME
4) If your RSLT number is not between 84-88, use a small flathead screwdriver to turn the small flathead screw that you see inside the hole on the right side of the unit. Turn it left or right to set it to 86.
5) Unplug and replug your unit and test
If the unit does not retract during the Reset, or you cannot see the small flathead screw in the hole because it is obstructed, take a 5mm Allen wrench and loosen the silver clutch bolt on the right side of the unit. Gently push down on the glass clamp and slowly push the unit into the Home position and tighten the clutch bolt. Turn the adjusting dial to bring the head to the flat position. Try resetting the unit once again to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you will need to send your unit to Telescript for service.

My presets have been programmed to something other than the factory presets. How can I restore the unit to factory settings? |
1) Unplug the power cord
2) Press and hold the POLE IDENT and SEND TO HOME buttons simultaneously while plugging the unit back in
3) Continue to hold the buttons until the pole either asks for a GLASS SIZE or you see a screen that says TGT 86 RSLT ** (number). If asked for a glass size, select either POLE IDENT or SEND TO HOME to select your glass size. Small is 10x12 sized glass and large is 12x14 sized glass.
4) If the unit is asking for glass size, choose your size.
5) Once you get to the screen that says TGT 86 RSLT, unplug and replug your unit and test. You should now be back to factory settings,

My unit seems to be slipping as it moves up and down |
It is likely your clutch bolt is loose. Take a 5mm Allen wrench and tighten the silver clutch bolt on the base's right side. After tightening test to see if the unit continues to slip.

My units are not operating as they should but I still have an event to run. I don’t have the time to troubleshoot. What can I do? |
In a case like this, it is possible to use the units like you would a standard public speaking system. To do this, using a 5mm Allen wrench, loosen the silver clutch bolt on the right side of the unit. Once loose, gently lower or raise the glass using your hand to extend or retract the pole. Once in position, retighten the clutch bolt to lock it in place.
When packing the units, loosen the clutch bolt and manually lower the pole to the HOME position. Turn the glass angle adjusting dial to fold the head flat.

My controller is reporting a BETWEEN MEMS error |
A BETWEEN MEMS error does not necessarily signal a critical issue. The message indicates that one or both poles are falling outside of the accepted tolerance for the preset you sent them to. For instance, if the pole is supposed to go to 60 inches, and the pole reports it only is getting to 59.75 inches, the controller is telling you the pole is not reporting within tolerance.
As long as the unit is working and is reasonably close to the height selected, you can still operate the unit. However, you should check if your clutch bolt is tight (see the above topic regarding the poles slipping).
If after trying the troubleshooting steps for the pole slipping, you may have to send the unit to Telescript for service.

My controller is not finding the poles |
Power down both bases, as well as the controller, and repower to see if the connection is made.
Check to make sure your cables are good. Replace cables if needed.
The BNC cables need to be connected directly to the units without going through a signal distribution system. The units need to have two-way communication with the controller, and signal distribution systems do not allow for two-way communication.

Poles go to different heights when sending them to a preset |
One of the poles has likely had its preset reprogrammed. To reset the pole(s):
1) Unplug the power cord
2) Press and hold the POLE IDENT and SEND TO HOME buttons simultaneously while plugging the unit back in
3) Continue to hold the buttons until the pole either asks for a GLASS SIZE or you see a screen that says TGT 86 RSLT ** (number). If asked for a glass size, select either POLE IDENT or SEND TO HOME to select your glass size. Small is 10x12 sized glass and large is 12x14 sized glass.
4) If your RSLT number is not between 84-88, use a small flathead screwdriver to turn the small flathead screw that you see inside the hole on the right side of the unit. Turn it left or right to set it to 86.
5) Unplug and replug your unit and test

I sent my unit to HOME and the glass came down hard at the bottom and broke the glass |
If your unit(s) are slamming down when you send them to HOME to the point where they are breaking the glass, your HOME position settings may be set incorrectly.
To check and adjust your HOME position:
5) Unplug and replug your unit, put the glass clamp in the locked/flat position and test WITHOUT glass in the clamp. If the unit seems to come back to the HOME position gently, you can now test with glass. If the unit still is hitting hard at the bottom, you will need to send the unit to Telescript for service.
In addition, if the padding inside the mouth of the glass clamp is missing, this will surely cause glass to break in the clamp. Finally, glass not inserted completely into the glass clamp could also result in the glass breaking when folding.

My base will not power up after plugging it in |
If your base will not power up, first check to see if the universal power cord is good. Replace if necessary. Be sure to check that your power source is good as well.
If you still have no power, you may have blown the main fuse in the unit.
Under the three-prong power port, there is a small hidden tray under the power port. Slide the tray open with a small flathead screwdriver. You will see two fuses in the tray. The rear fuse is the active fuse and the one in the forward compartment is a spare. Replace the active fuse with the spare and slide the tray back in. Test to see if the unit powers up. If not, you may have to send the unit back to Telescript for service.

My unit powers up but when I send the base to a preset height the unit does not go up. |
First, check to see if your controller has communication with the bases. Look at the display on the bases to see if it says NO COMMS. If it does, power down the bases and the controller and repower to see if the connection is made.
Check to make sure your cables are good. Replace cables if needed.
The BNC cables need to be connected directly to the units without going through a signal distribution system. The units need to have two-way communication with the controller and signal distribution systems do not allow for two-way communication.
If your units DO have a connection with the controller, does the silver clutch bolt on the side of the unit spin when you send the unit up or down? If so, tighten that clutch bolt with a 5mm Allen wrench.
If the clutch bolt does NOT spin or react in any way, you may have a bad motor fuse. On the left side of the unit, you will see three round fuse holders. The third from the left is the MOTOR fuse. Using a small flathead screwdriver, push and turn the round fuse holder to the left to release the fuse holder. Replace the 10a fuse with another similar 10a glass fuse and slide the fuse in the holder back into the base. Turn the fuse holder while pushing in to lock the fuse in place. Test to see if the motor now spins.
If you still cannot get the unit to move, call Telescript for further support.

I’m trying to use the XLR power port on the side of my base to power a monitor but the monitor will not power
|
First, be sure you are using the XLR port marked 12v OUT and not the XLR data port which is located under the display on the unit.
If you are not getting power out of the XLR power port located on the side of the unit, your cable may not be equipped to run power. Not all XLR cables support power so be sure you have an XLR that allows for power to flow through it.
Be sure you are not plugged into the XLR data power located on the front panel (on newer units) or under the display on the left side of the unit (on older units). If you are, use the XLR power port on the front left side of the unit.
If you are using a proper XLR power cable and are plugged into the correct XLR port, you may have to replace the fuse for the XLR power port. On the left side of the unit, you will see three round fuse holders. The second from the left is the 12V OUT fuse. Using a small flathead screwdriver, turn the round fuse holder to the left to release the fuse holder. Replace the 5a fuse with another similar 5a glass fuse and slide the fuse in the holder back into the base. Turn the fuse holder while pushing in to lock the fuse in place. Test for power. If there is still no power please call Telescript for further support.
